9:30 am - 10:00 pm
Job Summary: Performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures by utilizing equipment and computers, employing techniques and procedures in accordance with accepted age appropriate standards of practice. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of magnetic field strength and practice of safe entry into the magnetic field by staff and patients.
Education / Experience: Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Magnetic Resonance Technology or graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology with prior MRI experience preferred.
Licensure, Certification and / or Registration: Registered by ARRT in MRI or registry eligible with ARRT MRI certification within one year of hire. BLS (CPR) Certification.
Essential Functions:
- Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communications skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
- Performs or assists in performing MRI procedures and/or diagnostic tests.
- Maintains working knowledge of variations in current protocols and imaging techniques.
- Ensures availability of supplies and readiness of MRI scanners. Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Keeps area completely stocked. Cleans all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace.
- Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies, recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations.
- Maintains knowledge of all MRI Safety requirements for both staff and patients while in and around magnetic fields.
- Provides instruction, education, and consultation to healthcare personnel, students, and patients to promote and improve quality of patient care.
- Maintains files and compiles records according to procedure as required for accurate and current departmental records and/or reports.
- Maintains coordination of activities with others to accomplish work objectives.
- Maintains appropriate education/credentials to accomplish work objectives.
- Participates in planning by establishing personal goals to support quality improvement efforts and contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives.
- Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served to ensure patient’s needs are met.

- May handle emergency or crisis situations.
- May perform emergency care.
- May be exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals.
- Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
