Job Description
The Pathologist’s primary role is to work with customers in the interpretation of results in slide reviews. The candidate must educate customers on the proper utilization of diagnostic tests and provide insight regarding the interpretation of test results, requiring significant face-time with pathologists at customer sites. The role involves developing and enforcing medical and scientific strategy for the respective business area and providing strategic direction to commercial senior leadership.
The successful Pathologist candidate:
- Works extensively with customers, particularly in slide reviews, building relationships and demonstrating the clinical outcome and benefits of company products to thought leaders.
- Coordinates continuing education workshops, seminars, and programs for graduate physicians, pharmacists, and scientists.
- Serves as the highest level technical support for customers, addressing scientific inquiries, documenting requests, troubleshooting issues, and impacting marketing approaches through gap-fill strategies.
- Disseminates project information/customer interaction, attends U.S. and international scientific congresses, and maintains understanding of current lab and clinical practices.
- Represents Roche Diagnostics’ portfolio both scientifically and clinically, typically serving as a subject matter expert for a particular disease area or assay(s).
- Works with the Senior Scientific Affairs Manager on the entire study strategy for the business area(s) represented and participates in weekly meetings to assess customer demands in North America.
- Develops educational programs for pathologists and attends scientific forums to drive corporate advisory boards.
- Involves extensive participation in high-visibility launches, including peer-to-peer training for early adopter sites and new customers.
- Engages in on-site customer programs, such as VIPs and Visiting Scientist Programs.
- Is open to extensive travel required (may be >60% depending on customer demand).
Skills and Certifications
- MD in Anatomic Pathology
- 5 years of prior experience

An MD in Pathology who is personable, able to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and can represent Roche Diagnostics' portfolio both scientifically and clinically. The candidate will serve as the subject matter expert for a particular disease area or assay(s).
