(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Acute & Critical Care-NP - Hospital Critical Care|ICU Unit seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner to work collaboratively with families and a multidisciplinary health team in an inpatient hospital-based critical care specialty unit providing acute and chronic health care to patients, including clinical management for a critical care population. Procedurally based and high acuity patients. Provide leadership through education, consultation, and research.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluate patients being admitted to the ICU from the emergency department, hospital wards, and operating rooms.
- Formulate a plan of care, request appropriate diagnostic tests, enter appropriate medication, nursing, and life-support device orders.
- Maintain a high degree of collaboration with the ICU nurses in managing the patient's critical care needs.
- Communicate with the critical care provider team when deemed necessary.
- Placement of central venous access and arterial lines.
- Endotracheal intubation and basic ventilator management (the ICU has 24-7 staffing by expert Respiratory Care providers).
- Ability to run a code blue as a lead.
- Provide consultation to influence the identified plan of care, enhance the abilities of others to provide health care, and effect change in the healthcare system.
- Make appropriate referrals and discuss recommendations with patient, family, and/or caregiver.
- Collect and document comprehensive data in a systematic and ongoing process pertinent to the patient's health or situation, involving the patient, family, or caregiver when appropriate.
- Initiate and interpret age-appropriate and condition-specific laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
- Analyze and prioritize complex data to determine the differential diagnoses and revise diagnoses as appropriate to initiate the plan of care.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacological agents and interventions that are both universal and unique to the patient, and monitor/evaluate effects.
