West River Mental Health is accepting applications for Clinical Specialists with our CARE and IMPACT programs. In this role you will coordinate treatment, recovery, and support services for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Minimum pay for this position is $18.19 per hour.

Education and Experience
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent with preference for working with people in case management role. Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and experience preferred. Position requires travel in the community and transporting clients on an as needed basis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participate in the ongoing assessment and therapeutic engagement of clients.
- Work with consumers and staff in developing and implementing person-centered individualized treatment plans. Coordinate and maintain up-to-date assessments and evaluations to establish eligibility for services. Participate in treatment planning and monitoring progress towards goals and objectives. Assist in locating, coordinating and monitoring medical, social, co-occurring, and psychiatric services. Assist in planning and coordinating clients' financial resources including vocational opportunities and training. Ongoing assessment of the client’s symptoms and response to treatment/education.
- Provide direct services or referral, including social and emotional support, coupled with collaborative support to team clients.
- Coordinate the teaching of daily living skills: this includes but not limited to; grocery shopping, hygiene, maintaining clean housing, utilizing public transportation, maintaining self-care, exploring employment opportunities, instruct clients in the act of self-administration of prescription and nonprescription medication.
- Transport and/or accompany clients to appointments which connect them to community resources and services.
- Act as an advocate for clients to secure needed services and financial entitlements.
- Locate and/or establish self-help and support groups for team clients, families, and/or significant others.
- Attend all team meetings in order to facilitate an integrated, multidisciplinary team approach to service.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable BMS practice standards, guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely manner consistent with agency guidelines.
- Maintain department required productivity and standards.
- With documented consent, engage the client’s family and/or significant others to provide education regarding mental illness and system resources.
- Encompass WRMH mission, philosophy, code of ethics, vision, principles, and chosen values to support a positive working environment and continuous quality improvement among staff. This includes the expectation that staff is to conduct themselves with respect and dignity within the communities. Staff must maintain a high personal standard of honesty and integrity.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Willingness to develop a thorough understanding of mental illness and medication management.
- Ability to assess clients by phone and face to face in emergency situations.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients and customers.
- Participate as an active team member. Work cooperatively with others; provide coaching or mentoring, and exhibiting a positive attitude.
- Ability to work evening or weekend hours as required on an as needed basis.
- Ability to maintain a South Dakota driver’s license, vehicle liability insurance and safely operate a vehicle in all weather conditions.
