POSITION SUMMARY:
The Nurse Lead is responsible for directing, organizing, and supervising the work of nursing and medical assistant staff. This position coordinates efforts to ensure that effective patient care is provided and that quality standards are met.
Grade 8: $70,400-$88,000
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Nurse Lead will perform both supervisory and clinical nursing duties. In collaboration with providers, they will coordinate patient care, assist and support the provision of medical and nursing care throughout the clinic.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting Equitas Health philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments.
- Adhere to Infection Prevention policies and procedures, follows Standard Precautions and prevention of Blood Bourne pathogens and other communicable diseases, disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA regulations and complies with HIPPA regulations to protect a patient’s right to privacy.
- Collaborates with Leadership, interdisciplinary teams and other stakeholders in order to develop, implement and evaluate programs and services.
- Manage all aspects of patient appointment including rooming of patients, nursing assessments, setting priorities, organizing testing and treatment process.
- Evaluates performance of clinic team; monitor competencies and provide feedback; provide regular supervision.
- Monitor back office staff to ensure efficient management of patient flow.
- Develops processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all back office staff.
- Ensures ongoing staff development, identifies and works to improve training needs of staff and process improvement needs of the team.
- Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policy and procedures which support the organization's goals and business objectives and ensures they are met.
- Oversees and develops standards of care and standards of practice, directs fiscal management, and quality improvement activities.
- Coordinates work schedule for clinic team, including approving time off and coverage for absences.
- Manages and resolves human resource, employee and department safety, and risk management issues.
- Applies evidence-based healthcare practices and nursing standards.
- Maintains nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports; identifying trends; anticipating needed supplies; approving requisitions and cost allocations.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
- Provides information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests.
- Resolves patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Conducts nurse visits, triage patients, and coordinate care with physicians and nurse practitioners.
- Maintains accurate, complete health care records and reports.
- Administers medications to patients and monitors them for side effects and reactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE:
- Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current certification in CPR/BLS.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years or greater experience in a medical setting in a supervisory role.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Able to work efficiently under time constraints.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with a large team.
- Able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing practice standards.
- Must have sensitivity to, interest in and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, minority health, Gender Affirming Care, sexual practices, chemical dependency and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color, and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and other computer applications required.
- Epic experience preferred.
- Reliable transportation, driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
