Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner position at the Auraria Campus will provide comprehensive initial evaluations for staff/faculty/students with psychiatric or substance abuse diagnosis. This position will be located on the Auraria Campus, Denver, Colorado. The clinical setting is typical of a busy Family Practice medical office that includes behavioral health, including psychiatry, with both walk-in and scheduled appointments. Health Center at Auraria is an excellent practice environment with positive administrative support and a minimal staff turnover rate. The Health Center at Auraria has a diverse patient base with varying levels of clinical complexity.
This position is full-time (1.0 FTE).
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete comprehensive initial psychiatric evaluations for staff/faculty/students with psychiatric and/or substance use diagnoses.
- Provide psychiatric medication management follow-up.
- Perform psychiatric crisis evaluations. Determine appropriate level of care, develop safety plan, refer to higher level of care if indicated, initiate M1 hold if appropriate.
- Refer to and coordinate with specialists within the community if indicated.
- Order appropriate laboratory monitoring for medication management, diagnostic clarification.
- Serve as a consulting member of MSU Denver, UC Denver or Community College of Denver CARE/BIT (Behavioral Intervention Team).
Examples of Work Performed:
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with The Health Center at Auraria integrated medical care providers including primary care, women's health and dietary.
- Coordinate care with campus therapists and case managers.
- Coordinate care with off-campus therapists, psychiatric providers (if patient is hospitalized, in PHP or IOP).
- Provide mental health education to students/staff/faculty through written information, presentations.
- Serve as clinical preceptor to university students.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor or based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Instructor:
- Colorado Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with PMHNP-BC or Clinical Nurse Specialist with DEA certificate with no restrictions to any qualifications.
- 0-3 years of clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
- Minimum degree qualifications: NP/APN.
Senior Instructor:
- Colorado Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with PMHNP-BC or Clinical Nurse Specialist with DEA certificate with no restrictions to any qualifications.
- 3 plus years of clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
- Minimum degree qualifications: NP/APN.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of clinical practice.
- Prescriptive credentialed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students.
- Needs to work well in a collaborative environment.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
Instructor: $130,000-$150,000 (per 1.0 FTE) based on experience.
Senior Instructor: $130,000-$150,000 (per 1.0 FTE) based on experience.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
