What you will do
- Conduct a variety of computed tomography (CT) procedures including assisting radiologists with biopsies, cardiac CT, CT Angiograms, and post-processing.
- Maintain constant attention to patients assigned to the technologist for examination.
- Select proper protocol and technical factors, positioning devices, and study specific equipment.
- Produce computed tomography scans for diagnostic interpretation.
- Provide protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards to ensure the wellbeing of patients, hospital personnel, general public, and self while performing any duties.
- Identify and archive patient's images. Maintain records of exams.
- Responsible for proper identification on images, including both identification and demographic information.
- Document all related data. Maintain appropriate records of examinations and CT procedure log.
- Identify, process, transfer and archive patient exams including exam records, images, and patient demographics.
- Maintain the integrity and security of the radiology information systems.
- Conduct self in a professional manner.
- Subject to on-call status including weekends and holidays.
- Refer any unresolved problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, discipline, and other activities to the CT Team Leader Technologist.
- Promote professionalism, continuing education, and staff development 100% of the time.
- Participate in the formal in-service program provided for the Radiology Complex 95% of the time.
- Respond promptly and positively to patients, families, associates, and all others in a respectful, courteous, and confidential manner.
- Always maintain identifiable/professional attire, including using nametags and ID cards.
- Answer telephone calls within three rings 95% of the time.
- Follow hospital and department procedures and policies.
- Respect confidentiality of patients and co-workers in all circumstances 100% of the time.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Greet patients, families, co-workers, and others in a calm, professional, friendly manner; make eye contact, initiate conversation, and identify self by name.
- Attend mandatory sessions/meetings/in-services.
- Adhere to attendance policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of CHOP and department policies and procedures.
- Review policy and procedure updates from managers and CHOP.
- Resolve or escalate complex issues.
- Orient and train fellow staff technologists.
- Monitor CHOP email on a regular basis to keep informed regarding scheduling updates, workflow updates, policy and procedure updates, and all information relevant to the position.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required.
- Technical Diploma in Radiology Required.
Experience Qualifications
- At least two (2) years of work experience and/or trained in a CHOP affiliated program Required.
- Pediatric Experience Preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Computed Tomography (CT) - via either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) - upon hire - Required.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through an organization that requires a hands-on instructor-led psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross) - upon hire - Required.
Skills and Abilities
- Intermediate knowledge of MRI Imaging.
- Intermediate knowledge of Radiology Information System.
- Provides Family Centered Care.
- Integrates knowledge and assessment of child and family (Age Specific Competency).
- Ability to handle confidential matters.
- Able to handle multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
