Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Pharmacy Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the hospital pharmaceutical inventory process, which includes purchasing, stocking, and inventory optimization. This role will also assist in training staff on inventory handling and overseeing workflow in the pharmacy when the tech supervisor or pharmacy manager is unavailable.
What you will do in this role:
- You will make purchasing decisions while complying with budget limitations and achieving a maximum inventory turnover rate.
- You will ensure the timely communication for medication shortages or changes in medication stock availability.
- You will assist with the maintenance of database and/or paperwork on medication recalls.
- You will work with the pharmacy director to identify drug cost variances on a monthly basis and develop action plans.
- You will run bid compliance checks and make recommendations for formulary changes as necessary.
- You will provide leadership and perform physical inventory counts during inventory and cycle counts.
What qualifications you will need:
- High School graduate or GED is required.
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Supply Chain Logistics is preferred.
- 3+ years of inpatient pharmacy technician experience is required.
- 2 years of hospital pharmacy buyer experience is preferred.
- National Certification (CPhT) is required.
- Active Registered Pharmacy Technician with the state Board of Pharmacy is required.
