Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Lab Manager to join the Ferris Lab in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. This lab investigates mechanisms of anti-tumor immunity in the microenvironment, as well as immune escape mechanisms developed by tumor cells to evade NK and T cells elimination. The Lab Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting and overseeing the daily operations of the lab, ensuring the smooth execution of research projects, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Must demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Must have experience with database and specimen management.
- Must have experience working with human tissue (human cell lines & human specimens).
- Must possess expertise in both wet lab and dry lab skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Priority will be given to candidates who possess a solid understanding of research principles, study design, laboratory processes, data collection and analysis.
- Have prior experience with lab management duties in an immunology lab environment.
- Can utilize, repair, and operate equipment and instruments essential to the function of the laboratory with minimal supervision.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills to assist in grant writing and proposal development.
- Have experience training and/or supervising others in a lab setting.
