Position Summary
Working in collaboration with a psychiatrist, provide high quality patient care to a diverse University community in accordance with established standards and medical ethics, and with policies and procedures of the Student Health Center. Provide high quality direct patient care in accordance with established standards (i.e. current medical and nursing protocols authorized by NY State). Meet students for psychiatric intake evaluations, psychiatric follow up sessions, and drop-in or walk-in sessions. Assess their problems, prescribe medications, consult with other medical specialists, and refer for ongoing treatment as indicated. Prepare and maintain accurate and thorough counseling records.
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing and NYS Nurse Practitioner license in appropriate specialty with prescription privileges.
Preferred Education: Masters degree in Nursing.
Required Experience: 4 years relevant experience in an ambulatory setting including 2 years as Nurse Practitioner or an equivalent combination.
Preferred Experience: Outpatient experience in counseling and prescribing with a student or young adult population.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills. Must have CPR certification.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Willingness and ability to meet a flexible work schedule.
