The oncology nurse navigator is a professional RN who adheres to established guidelines, utilizes the nursing process, leverages healthcare facility resources, and provides patients with timely, high-quality cancer care. This specialized nurse has excellent interpersonal communication skills, facilitating effective information exchange among all oncology program stakeholders. The nurse adeptly selects the most suitable communication method for each stakeholder.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver nursing care to patients who are ill, injured, or have disabilities.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient medical records.
- Assess patient conditions and develop treatment plans.
- Educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Monitor and document changes in patient symptoms or behavior.
- Provide guidance and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with physicians or specialists on patient care.
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities.
Qualifications:
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred) and licensure in the State of Montana.
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification required.
- ACLS and NRP certifications are required within 12 months.
