Lab Manager (NEW HOSPITAL OPENING 3rd/4th QUARTER 2024)
Job Summary: The Laboratory Manager performs and supervises a variety of diagnostic laboratory tests that are intended to assist with improving the overall status of patients providing accurate laboratory results. The Laboratory Manager is actively involved in all departmental activities, trans-disciplinary activities; ensuring individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations. This is an exempt position.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Essential Job Functions:
The Laboratory Manager is responsible for all departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision, and facility goals. The Manager is responsible for daily operations, personnel management, and regulatory compliance of laboratory services for the facility. The Manager considers business trends, resource availability, and changes in customers in the operation of the laboratory. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors. The Manager identifies and remedies through continuous customer satisfaction data and employee involvement. The Department Manager communicates the needs of the department to leadership and collaborates with medical staff regarding laboratory issues and therapy recommendations. The Director supports the management team in meeting facility goals.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or an appropriate biological/chemical/medical science from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an accredited laboratory. Experience with Point of Care Testing.
- Certification by one of the following accrediting agencies: MT(ASCP) or categorical, MT(HEW), MT(AMT), CLS(NCA) and or qualify under CLIA CFR subpart M 493.1449.
- Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies/standards.
- Demonstrate competent administrative, leadership and management skills, demonstrating knowledge of the development needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, Medicare, CLIA, and all other regulatory standards affecting laboratory.
- Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel, medical staff, and the public.
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions.
- Must have the ability to act as liaison between personnel and management.
- Ability to detect color and color changes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office is required.
Work Environment: Perform duties in a fast-paced/stressful environment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of radiation. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
