What you'll doThe Mammography Technologist II will perform radiologic and mammographic imaging using ALARA principles. Provides prompt, efficient, courteous services to patients while taking high-quality radiographs. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Performs mammography, DEXA (as needed), and diagnostic radiography examinations, and maintains up-to-date mammography CE credits.
- Maintains equipment for proper diagnostic imaging.
- Consults with radiologist when necessary.
- Accepts patients and verifies correct preparation for exam ordered/explains procedure to patient.
- Reports equipment issues to supervisor and calls in service as necessary.
- Quality controls all images, maintains inventory and adheres to safety regulations/ALARA.
- Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to obtain the maximum diagnostic image corresponding to the body part being imaged to limit the need for repeated exposure.
- Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards.
- Maintains an excellent quality of x-ray radiographs with a minimum of a 5% repeat rate as randomly checked by Leadership.
- Performs mammography x-ray examinations in accordance with the ACR guidelines.
- Develops the x-ray radiographs including the evaluation of films for technical quality.
- Prepares, identifies and/or administers medication as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Explains all procedures to patients and answers any questions or concerns regarding the test as seen in patient surveys and noted by the leader.
- Transports patients to and from the room when required as designated by the leader.
- Provides fluoroscopic assistance to the Radiologists, setting up sterile trays, preparing and dispensing barium or other chemical mixtures as necessary, and assists in the positioning of patients during fluoroscopic examination as noted by the Radiologist.
- Selects appropriate technical factors on an individual patient basis and operates equipment.
- Participates in quality assurance of all equipment and processing according to ACR guidelines.
- Assists the Radiologist with mammography biopsy as observed by the Radiologist, where applicable.
- Checks instrument calibrations daily; performs quality control procedures daily on equipment as noted by leader.
- Maintains records of examination data and other patient information on all mammography patients as noted by leader.
- Maintains mammography x-ray processing quality assurance as noted by leader.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and quality control program, as described by the mammography quality assurance standards and the American College of Radiology (ACR) as noted by leader.
- Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
- Maintains competence through continuing education.
- Maintains appropriate continuing education credits to keep up licensure as recorded by leader.
- Maintains a good working relationship with Radiology students that complete their clinical within our department as observed by leader.
- Maintains adequate level of inventory in all rooms.
- Cleans and organizes x-ray rooms after patient use as observed by leader.
- Attends the necessary meetings to keep up with changes within the department.
- Attends monthly department meetings 90-95% of the time as recorded in the meeting minutes.
- Performs other duties as required.
What we need from youEducation:
- Satisfactory completion of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA approved school, required.
- Mammography Quality Standard Act regulations of completion of 40 hours of documented training specific to mammography, required.
Experience:
- Minimum one year previous experience in radiology technology, required.
License/ Certification:
- NYS Registered as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
- ARRT Registered as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
- ARRT (M) License, required.
- BLS Certification, required.

Physical Requirements:

Pay RangeSalary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:USD $36.76/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:USD $55.13/Hr.
