The Radiographer/Mammographer is responsible for performing diagnostic and screening mammograms as well as assist the Radiologist with cyst aspirations and needle localizations. Must have basic knowledge of Mammography Quality Control. Must be able to operate all radiology equipment (except ultrasound) independently. Must be able to take direction from the Imaging Director, Assistant Director, Radiologists, and Physicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Must be able to perform screening and diagnostic mammograms including additional work up films as recommended by the Radiologist and develop the films according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
2. Follow prescribed techniques in administering general and special radiographs and properly save/display examination according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
3. Must be able to obtain adequate history from patient including location, if any, of previous mammograms and attempt to obtain them.
4. Must be able to assist the Radiologist with cyst aspirations and needle localizations following sterile techniques.
5. Must have basic knowledge of Mammography Quality Control and be able to perform basic Quality Control tests if the Director and/or Assistant Director of Imaging is unavailable.
6. Keep an accurate log of all patients and procedures done.
7. Observe patient and equipment during procedures to assure patient and technologist safety and report any problems to the Director and/or Assistant Director of Imaging immediately.
8. Must be able to work independently.
9. Clean and disinfect room/equipment after each procedure.
10. Transport patients to and from Imaging Department.
11. Maintain stock, supplies, and perform general clerical duties.
12. Assist the Imaging personnel whenever possible.
13. Instruct patients in proper Breast Self-Examination and encourage patients to follow Breast Self-Examination.
14. Be available to groups and organizations to promote Mammography and Breast Self-Examination.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and License:
Graduation (diploma or certificate) from an accredited JRCERT School of Radiologic Technology.
Licensed with the National Registry (ARRT) and the State of Oregon Board of Radiologic Technology (or eligible for licensing by the State of Oregon).
Certifications
Must have Certificate of Advanced Qualifications in Mammography by the National Registry (ARRT).
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience on a dedicated film/screen Mammography Unit and/or Digital Mammography in either a hospital or clinic setting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works indoors in an air-conditioned environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent use of computer and phone, and other standard office machines. Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, twist, kneel, reach, push, pull using proper body mechanics and move/lift varying amounts of weight to a maximum of 50 lbs.
