Primary Responsibilities:
- Help ease patient's fear and apprehension about radiation therapy
- Set up patients properly for accurate delivery of radiation treatment. Explain to patient what to expect during treatment and what the patient can do to make sure treatment is carried out accurately
- Responsible for daily warm-up of treatment machine. This includes entering information in the warm-up log book. Any variations from parameters set by physicist should be reported to the Senior Therapist
- Responsible to check simulator for proper operation. Any problem that would interfere with proper operation should be reported to the Chief Radiation Therapist. All checks done should be properly entered on the simulator warm-up log
- Properly position patient for simulation of treatment area using immobilization devices as necessary to ensure proper position of patient. Explain to the patient what to expect during simulation and how the patient can help to make the process go smoothly and correctly
- Produce acceptable radiographs for simulation
- Tattoo the patient's treatment area safely when applicable
- Photograph the patient's treatment area & face to be placed in the patient's chart
- Maintains audio and visual contact with patients at all times
- Schedule the patient for daily treatment
- Make sure the patient's marks are maintained during the course of treatment
- Explain to the patient what adverse reactions might occur during treatment course. Notify the RN or Radiation Oncologist of patient's adverse reaction when necessary
- Make sure Radiation Oncologist sees the patient at least once a week during treatment course
- Verify weekly weight check

Required Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Completion of formal training program of Radiation Therapy
- Current State of Nevada license
- Current CPR Certification
- ARRT in Radiation Therapy
Preferred Qualification:
- 1+ years of experience working in an acute care hospital setting
- 1+ years of experience as a Radiation Therapist
- Experience with: Aria, Varian linear accelerators/Truebeam, GE CT scanner/simulation, SBRT/SRS
- Working with radiation producing equipment
- Some lifting may be required
Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $33.75 to $66.25 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
