This is a per diem position at our out-patient surgical center performing vascular-access procedures, PAD, and embolization. We work only day-shift. No call, no evening shift, no night shift, and no holidays. Limited Saturday hours are rotated among the team.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Supports the Organization’s mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the Organization’s Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and policy requirements.
Assists physicians in performing a variety of interventional radiology procedures. Responsible for the operation and quality control of the radiological equipment in accordance with the Organization’s policies, procedures, and training. Assists with inventory and supply management.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs various activities necessary for the preparation of the patient and the procedure room for the radiology procedures in compliance with the organization’s policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Reviews patient-specific procedure orders to determine materials/supplies needed.
- Sets up/stocks the procedure room/procedure trays with all needed supplies and interventional equipment prior to procedure and cleans procedure room post-procedure.
- Conducts all necessary preparations of the patient procedure room and documents when appropriate.
- Explains procedure to the patient, answers questions, and addresses patient concerns.
- Assists with preparing the patient for the surgical procedure by positioning, shaving, and prepping.
- Performs patient transfers and transports patient to and from procedure room.
- Inputs patient data into the C-Arm.
- Acts as scrub assistant assisting the physician during interventional procedures and administers fluoroscopy.
- Complies with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality.
- Draws up intravenous medication and labels as per the organization’s medication labeling policy.
- Processes x-ray images and archives to the image repository, CD, or DVD.
- Provides outstanding quality of patient care by supporting and driving the organization’s quality standards.
- Assists with implementing the organization’s quality goals and facility-specific action plans.
- Ensures medical records are accurate, complete, and in compliance with the organization’s policies.
- Maintains integrity of medical records and performs audits regularly.
- Assists with maintaining environmental integrity and aesthetics.
- Ensures all areas are clean, sanitary, and safe daily.
- Makes recommendations regarding replacement of equipment and repairs.
- Assists with disposal of hazardous waste materials.
- Attends and participates in meetings, ensuring effective communication with physicians.
- Assists in training and orienting new employees.
- Ensures patient billing is accurate and timely.
- Acts as Radiation Safety Officer; monitors radiation badges and conducts in-services regarding radiation safety.
- Participates in all facility regulatory and accreditation surveys.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and to perform patient transfers and positioning of patients up to 400 pounds.
- 10% Travel.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree desirable; Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
- Current ARRT Certification and/or State Licensure (as per state regulations).
- Interventional Radiology certificate preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 4 – 6 years’ related experience desirable.
- 1 year experience preferred for Candidates with ARRT.
- Working knowledge of interventional equipment.
- Experience with interventional procedures.
- Knowledge and experience of sterile techniques.
- Successfully complete BLS certification.
- Proficient in the use of computers and related software.

The rate of pay for this position will depend on the successful candidate’s work location and qualifications, including relevant education, work experience, skills, and competencies.
Hourly Rate: $37.00 - $62.00
