Job Description
Performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images. Produces quality computed tomography exam images and exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Provides for patient care and initiates life support measures as necessary. Interacts effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and healthcare workers. Demonstrates expert skills and knowledge to operate CT equipment to produce quality CT scans as well as the ability to perform related procedures and protocols. Demonstrates the ability to learn and utilize new technology as well as orient new employees. Possesses the ability to professionally obtain information from patients or their responsible parties to further improve their personalized treatment and care. Acts as a CT Technologist and works to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status. Works with all age groups.
Qualifications
Completion of an educational program and clinical experience accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) accredited program is required.
Two years’ experience as a staff CT technologist is required; previous supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Thorough understanding of CT techniques, procedures, and quality control (QC) testing is required.
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. Computerized Tomography (CT) certified required. If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) and I.V. certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
