Work hours: Typically, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM with a 30 minute unpaid lunch. Occasional nights and rare weekend hours required.
Work location & format: In person; outpatient medical office and mobile outreach & engagement vehicle in the future.
Position Summary: The Lead Nurse at St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center is responsible for the management and the provision of nursing services. The Lead Nurse oversees the day-to-day delivery of health care in a manner that assures consistent, quality care for patients. They are responsible for assessing, planning, organizing and monitoring the services and resources needed to operate effectively and efficiently in the nursing department.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Required:
- BSN with current NYS RN License
- Two to five years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified OR ability to demonstrate strong clinical assessment and coordination skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to mentor nursing staff members, volunteer nurses, and student nurses
- Ability to work effectively with patients and families of all age groups, racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds, diverse gender identities & expressions, and sexual orientations
- Ability to provide integrated care by collaborating with other departments including mental health and care management
- Ability to coordinate clinic workflow including preparing visits, ensuring timely patient rooming and delegating tasks to volunteers appropriately
- Basic laboratory skills including phlebotomy and specimen collection
- Ability to assist with patient examinations and minor procedures as needed
- Ability to flex schedule to coordinate with other nursing staff
- Requires valid NYS driver license as this position may drive the organization’s Mobile Outreach & Engagement (MOE) vehicle.
- Preferred:
- Experience in gynecologic health

Physical Requirements
- In compliance with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) infection control requirements for health care organizations, St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center (SJNC) requires that all new and existing employees and volunteers provide documentation to demonstrate:
- Mumps Measles and Rubella (MMR) vaccination or titer
- Completion of a Tuberculosis (TB) test within 6 months
- Flu vaccination or mask required in clinical areas during flu season
- COVID 19 vaccination series or mask required in all patient/client areas
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
- Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary range: $60,611.20-$92,976.00. Based upon skillset and years of experience.

- Standard benefits for full-time employees, include the following, which are prorated for part-time employees:
- Monday-Friday work week with occasional nights and weekend hours required.
- Paid Holidays: A minimum of ten (10) paid holidays including: New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Day, and one floating holiday. The holiday schedule is determined by the Executive Director as is distributed in November of each year.
- Personal Time Off (PTO): New employees accrue .088461 hours of PTO per hour worked (184 hours per year at 40 hours per week. This bank is used for all vacation, sick-time, time off to conduct personal business, medical/dental appointments, and other personal matters.
- Medical Insurance: SJNC currently contributes $5,550 per year toward the cost of health insurance for full-time employees and a prorated amount for part-time employees.
- Dental Insurance: SJNC has an optional dental plan for individuals and/or families who wish to purchase dental insurance.
- Vision Insurance: SJNC has an optional vision plan for individuals and/or families who wish to purchase vision insurance.
- Retirement Savings Plan—401k Plan: As of 07/01/24, SJNC contributes 3% of each individual’s salary to a tax-advantaged retirement savings plan. Employees may elect to have a portion of their pay deferred into the plan before or after tax based upon their election.
- Life Insurance: The Center provides and pays for a life insurance policy for each full-time employee. The insurance benefit is currently double the individual’s annual salary up to a $200,000 limit.
