Job Summary:
Under supervision of the Managing Partner, supervise, teach, and mentor assigned group practice students during patient care sessions in The Dental Center and other CDM clinical sites. Oversee group practice management to ensure a humanistic, patient-centered, and efficient general dentistry group practice. Participate in all assigned academic responsibilities necessary for on-time graduation of students. This is a full-time position in conjunction with a faculty position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Recognized knowledge and experience in assigned area of diagnostic and treatment services.
- Ability to communicate effectively to both individuals and groups in writing and orally.
- Ability to interact in an effective and positive manner with individuals of diverse backgrounds, including administration, faculty, residents, students, staff, patients, and outside contacts.
- Ability to effectively conduct detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in an academic environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or equivalent.
- Active California dental license or be qualified to obtain licensure or faculty special permit in California.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Must maintain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that satisfies the requirements of the WesternU Vehicle Use Policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a residency program in General Practice Residency or Advanced Education in General Dentistry.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical practice experience.
- Experience in supervising students and/or residents providing patient care in an academic setting.
- Demonstrated dental practice managerial experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Managing Partner, other Team Leader, and Patient Care Coordinator to accomplish all group tasks, including maintaining a patient-centered, productive, and efficient group practice.
- Resolve patient care issues (e.g. complaints, quality assurance) or bring them to the Managing Partner’s attention as needed.
- Perform chart audits and participate in other assigned Quality Assurance activities.
- Cooperate with other group faculty and with the Associate Dean for Patient Care and Clinical Education on scheduling to ensure faculty supervision of all clinical sessions including after-hours call.
- Participate in student assessment activities including daily formative feedback, clinical competency exams, clinical care seminars, remediation plans, and semester evaluations.
- Serve as clinical course director or co-director.
- Provide clinical and administrative guidance for part-time faculty members.
- Ensure group faculty and student calibration with Dental Center clinical and administrative protocols.
- Actively participate in clinical and administrative meetings as assigned by the Managing Partner or Associate Dean for Patient Care and Clinical Education.
- Assume Managing Partner duties as needed in their absence.

Work Schedule:
Work hours are usually 8am to 5pm with a possibility of an earlier start time. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Travel between CDM Clinical sites including but not limited to Pomona, El Monte, Chino Hills, and Rancho Mirage may be required.
Expected Pay Scale:
Minimum: $5,000.00
Maximum: $5,600.00
