Performs technical procedures in a research laboratory under minimal supervision by applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lab Technician with expertise in mouse husbandry and xenografting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting our research and development efforts by ensuring the care and well-being of our mouse colonies, as well as the successful execution of xenografting experiments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor mouse colonies to ensure health and well-being.
- Breed and genotype mice for research projects.
- Perform surgical procedures for xenografting experiments.
- Administer drugs and collect samples from xenografted mice.
- Perform in vitro cell and organoid studies.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and experimental results.
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as preparing solutions and media, maintaining equipment, and ordering supplies.
- Communicate with researchers and other lab members to coordinate experimental protocols and data collection.
- Perform and direct specialized and complex lab tests, experiments, and surgical procedures for studies.
- Assist the Principal Investigator in the design, implementation, and performance of new protocols and procedures as well as the modification of existing techniques.
- Review scientific journals, abstracts, and other literature for information concerning experimental procedures.
- Make advanced statistical calculations, analyze data, and prepare reports summarizing research results.
- Operate complex and highly specialized laboratory and surgical instruments and equipment. Instruct others in their use.
- Maintain a log of supplies used in procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or other scientific disciplines in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; knowledge of complex laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology, materials, and substances. Skilled in the use of laboratory equipment, ability to create and analyze statistical calculations and prepare reports required; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. OSHA training and certification in animal care and use or the willingness to complete the certification may be required by some departments.
