BJK People‘s Health Centers is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to triage patients from our Call Center. This is a great opportunity for an experienced RN with excellent assessment skills with Ambulatory and/or Emergency Room experience. Summary: Provides general nursing care to patients in a hospital, nursing home, infirmary, or similar health care facility by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' needs and refer them to appropriate medical services.
- Explain procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Prepare equipment and assist Physician during treatment and examination of patients.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisor or Physician of patients' conditions and reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess the condition of patients.
- Respond to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Document nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
- Initiate a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.
- Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgery.
- Assist in surgery by handing items to Surgeon, Obstetrician, or other medical practitioner.
- Participate in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Education and/or Experience:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) with a valid Missouri Nursing License. Must have three years of experience in ambulatory care or experience in Women's Health, pediatric, or public health setting desirable.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
