Cardio Cath Technologist Full Time Days Position Summary:
Technician providing technical and patient support and patient care. Communicates continuously with the physician about patient condition. Assists physician during invasive and noninvasive procedures. Operates all equipment safely and correctly. Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiac Cath Laboratory team are met. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Technician is authorized to be in the presence of medications.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the cleanup of the room following procedures, including appropriate disposal of used supplies, handling of instruments, returning, and restocking of supplies. Also participates in the restocking, resupplying, and cleaning of the support areas.
- Assists in positioning, prepping, and draping of patients for procedures. Gives patient explanations and verbal reassurances consistently.
- Sets up and scrubs for procedures in a timely manner that allows the patient to come into the room 5 minutes prior to scheduled start time.
- Maintains aseptic technique when opening sterile supplies, setting up procedures, and during all invasive procedures.
- Operates all imaging equipment safely and correctly. Performs preventative maintenance as needed. Ensures proper functioning prior to each procedure, during the procedure, and post-procedure.
- Ability to work as a team member, assists physicians, and assists with the interpretations of data collected.
- Able to scrub, circulate, and operate in the control room for all procedures in the Cardiac Cath Laboratory.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for the patient's age.
- Assures radiation safety and monitoring.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Demonstrated critical thinking skills to be able to pass orientation.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Completion of formal two-year radiologic technology training in AMA approved school which meets requirements for registry by the ARRT or equivalent on-the-job training including a minimum of four months orientation.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registration; current Arizona MRTBE license; current BLS.
REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: Must attend EKG, Hemodynamics, IABP classes within four months of hire.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: ARRT(CI), (VI) or ARRT (CV); ACLS.
