The Government Relations (GR) department manages the Resort’s political and policy strategies and initiatives. The GR team serves as the Disneyland Resort’s liaisons to local, state, federal, and international government officials and many industry groups.
What You Will Do
As a Disney Intern on the Government Relations team, you’ll reside within the Public Affairs department at the Disneyland Resort. In this role, you will form a part of a team responsible for championing the Resort’s political and policy strategies and initiatives. We serve as Disneyland Resort’s liaison to local, state, and federal government officials and many industry groups! We support the Resort’s upcoming government, political, and policy initiatives.
As a Government Relations Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Assist with tracking of reportable gifts for elected officials, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop, manage, and deploy stakeholder communications on a variety of topics.
- Serve as the liaison to Orange County elected leaders on various fronts, including coordinating elected orientations, facilitating project and initiative update meetings, and assisting with the activation of stakeholder events.
- Review and report to the team on relevant agenda items at local meetings (City Council, County, etc.).
- Conduct policy research on emergent and relevant issues across the State.
- Assist in tracking legislation relevant to the Disneyland Resort.
- Monitor daily news for a variety of topics/issues.
- Represent the resort at external events before local government and industry groups.
- Manage the team’s external contact database.
Please apply if you have
- Confirmed understanding of the political process, municipal operations, and local government.
- Political experience (campaign, district office, or industry relations).
- Knowledge of the Anaheim/Orange County political issues.
- Strong creative skills with a confirmed ability to build and develop collateral, presentations, and other communications materials as needed.
- Willingness to adapt working hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong written and verbal communication competence.
- Critical thinking or analytical problem-solving skills.
- Established computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or MAC OS environment.
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to be a team player with strong collaboration skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deliverables.
It would also be great if you have/are familiar with
- Political experience (campaign, district office, or industry relations).
Education
- Earning a degree in Political Science, Policy, Public Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the requirements below
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
- Possess unrestricted work authorization.
Additional Information
- The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 through June 2025.
- This internship is located in Anaheim, CA; candidates should be receptive to providing their own transportation and housing for the duration of the internship.
- Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines.
- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
- You are expected to work FULL-TIME hours (approximately 40 per week) during the internship.
