Biological Science Laboratory Technician
USDA Agricultural Research Service is currently recruiting for a Biological Science Laboratory Technician in Beltsville, MD.
Duties:
- Cultures and maintains plants and microbes in laboratory and greenhouse settings.
- Adapts, modifies, or develops new techniques or procedures to satisfy the needs of the research project.
- Collects, prepares, evaluates, and verifies samples and supporting records.
- Performs the full range of techniques and studies using a variety of specialized equipment.
Experience: Based on grade level, one year of specialized experience which is directly related to the work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience participating in a research project related to plants; statistically analyzing or summarizing data; and maintaining equipment and automated systems used for test and evaluation procedures.
OR
Education: Successful completion of one full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related to the position. Related degrees may include Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Agriculture, Plant Science, Plant Pathology, and Plant Physiology.
OR
A combination of education and experience as described above.
