POSITION SUMMARY
The Oligonucleotides Chemist is responsible for research scale-up and manufacturing operations with scientific expertise to ensure successful transfer of new products from development to manufacturing. Conduct post labeling oligonucleotides with different chemistries.
This is an onsite role requiring a 5 day per week schedule onsite in our Bothell Washington location.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oligonucleotide production includes operation of automated synthesis equipment (ABI and AKTA 10 & 100).
- Post labeling oligonucleotides with different chemistries.
- Fulfill all training requirements for Oligo Mixing, instrument use, and necessary oligo production tasks, following regulations.
- Operation of analytical instruments: HPLC, UHPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, fluorescent spectroscopy, and ability to use other methods for reagents characterization.
- Process production materials using bench techniques and lab instrumentation (Prep HPLC, pH probe, balances, NanoDrop, and rotary evaporators).
- Batch production, preparation of protocols and revising process procedures following ISO-9001 quality system.
- Maintain inventory of raw materials and final mixtures.
- Demonstrate significant skills in production while adhering to safe laboratory practices and environmental safeguards.
- Communicate and collaborate with team members to maximize production efficiencies and meet deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
- BS/MS degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in the life science industry.
- Experience with automated synthesis equipment (ABI and AKTA 10 & 100) and purification instrumentation are required.
- Ability to think logically, prioritize tasks, be self-motivated, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong synthetic chemistry knowledge and scale up knowledge is highly preferred.
- Good verbal communication skills including communication to supervisor, instructional communication to junior staff members, and across departments.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $80,000 to $90,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
