Job Details:
The Clinical Team Leader identifies the procedures, processes, and patient care to be accomplished during the work period, as well as the resources required to safely carry out the work of the unit in collaboration with the unit and organizational leadership teams. The Clinical Team Leader distributes the work of the unit to make the best use of available resources, considering the knowledge, skills, and abilities of those integral to the patient care process. They provide ongoing coordination of work and resources as necessary to meet changing requirements in the work environment.
On an ongoing basis, the Clinical Team Leader evaluates individual and collective outcomes of the patient care provided during their shift, compares patient care delivery to accepted standards, adjusts assignment of resources as necessary, and reports changing needs and outcomes to the health care staff. The Clinical Team Leader may contribute observations to individual employee evaluations, suggest competency evaluations, or advise and educate fellow staff. These functions should not be construed as supervisory in the sense of exercising control regarding employment decisions.
The Clinical Team Leader is accountable for the overall operation of an assigned unit during a specific time period but is not solely or personally responsible for the selection or discharge of employees. They also serve as a Safety Coach on the unit, promoting utilization of Hospital Acquired Condition Prevention and other safety promotion behaviors.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Dayton Children’s provides the highest level of care for children with a critical illness or injury. With our low nurse-to-patient ratio, each patient receives personalized and attentive care. Most patient rooms in the PICU are private and equipped with advanced technology.
