Glumac, A Tetra Tech Company, is a leader in Sustainable Design. Our mission is to engineer and commission “green buildings that work.” Our fully integrated MEP, Energy Analysis, Sustainability, Commissioning, Technology, and Lighting teams work collaboratively to meet that goal and deliver a sustainable future.
We are seeking Energy Interns to join our team at Glumac in Summer 2025! We have developed a robust Intern Program to develop student interns in the building engineering consulting profession and provide them with the tools necessary to potentially fill a full-time role on our team after graduation. Your supervisor and mentors will connect with you to develop a plan, outline goals and actions, and provide training that will prepare you for a career in this field.
As an energy intern at Glumac, you will gain hands-on learning experience supporting real projects. We will teach you how to analyze energy data, develop energy models, and prepare reports and presentations that support our clients’ energy, carbon, and climate action goals for their building portfolios. You will work side by side with our senior energy consultants and engineers to develop a better understanding of sustainable buildings, clean energy technologies, and energy modeling & analytics.
In this role, you will:
- Provide energy modeling and analytics for new and existing buildings.
- Advise building owners and architects on design and strategies.
- Support energy auditing, retro-commissioning, and decarbonization master planning projects.
- Analyze trend data for energy systems, building operations, and campus energy systems.
Impact, Innovation, and Inclusivity should be core values. To thrive in this role, you should:
- Be pursuing an engineering or other technical degree.
- Have a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
- Have some knowledge of sustainable building design and clean energy systems.
- Have some data analytics or dashboarding experience including Python, R, Power BI, and Tableau.
Along with local site visits, technical seminars, and training, Glumac will connect you with team members to source knowledge and experience which will create an invaluable network to help you learn, grow, and develop your professional skills. We will provide opportunities to attend local office events, participate with our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and join fireside chats and other presentations by our diverse leadership team. You’ll also support a group project where you’ll consider how “sustainability” takes on a different meaning when applied to the perspective of environment, people, relationships, communities, etc., and present this idea to a panel of judges and our Associates Group for possible implementation.
Interns have the best learning experiences when they are in the office working side-by-side with colleagues. All interns must commit to working in a Glumac office a minimum of 2-3 days per week. Please identify in your application which location you are interested in working from, keeping in mind that Glumac is unable to provide compensation for relocation expenses or housing costs.
We look for people who want to join us in stepping boldly toward the challenge of reducing the carbon output of buildings through intelligent, data-driven building design. Glumac is a place where you can apply your passion and make a tangible impact on the communities we live in, all starting with you!
Salary Range: $23-$28 per hour
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the proposed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Additional consideration will be given for Masters and PhD level applicants.
