Job Summary
The Interprofessional Practice Department ensures all regulated health care providers are prepared to deliver high quality patient centred care by leading Interprofessional orientation monthly to all new staff members and ensuring existing staff are current in training and skills in order to provide safe care. The department oversees all students (excluding medical and midwifery students) ensuring a focus on successful development and meeting their outlined academic curriculum.
As the Infection Control Practitioner (ICP), you will be responsible for reducing the risk of infection and minimizing infection transmission within the facility. You will provide ongoing expertise, consultation, surveillance, education, research, and evaluation of infection prevention and control processes and procedures to departments and programs. You will collaborate with frontline staff, managers, ancillary support staff, volunteers, medical staff, and external partners.
Minimum Requirements
As a qualified candidate, you will need the following:
- Four-year Undergraduate degree specific to Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Public Health
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) Mandatory
- About one year of experience performing client-centered activities while incorporating principles of infection prevention
- Minimum five years’ experience related to the healthcare industry with familiarity in patient care services
- Minimum two years’ experience in Infection Prevention and Control
- Experience performing regular self-evaluations to identify strengths and needs for professional development
- Knowledge of epidemiologic principles, statistics, microbiology, and infectious diseases
- Knowledge and ability to utilize education principles in adult teaching
- Advanced computer skills
- Knowledge and ability to utilize principles of quality improvement
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively participate in Infection Prevention and Control initiatives

As a Regional Health Centre, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, it may be expected that you are available to work weekdays, weekends, and all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.
