Summary
The Manager of Annual Giving and Stewardship, Louisiana position is responsible for managing the annual giving and stewardship programs in Louisiana. At the direction of the VP of Strategic Partnerships, LA, this position will manage the implementation of the mid-level and annual donor programs consisting of direct response, online fundraising, and personal solicitations; and manage the corporate/work giving program. The Manager of Annual Giving and Stewardship is responsible for maintaining and upgrading mid-level and annual giving donors within the positions gift portfolio and communicating regularly with the VP of Strategic Partnerships, LA.
This position will also be responsible for designing and managing the execution and implementation of stewardship opportunities that support the growth of the donor pipeline, donor retention, and donor revenue. Additionally, the position reports to the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, LA to determine effective strategies for stewardship of donors at all levels. They must sustain positive relations with internal and external constituencies and provide support for key fundraising events.
Essential Duties
- Plans and directs a comprehensive strategy for a multi-year mid-level annual giving program that identifies and prioritizes individual donors to move through the donor pipeline to elevate philanthropic support. Also manages the annual giving program including direct response and manages the corporate/work giving program.
- Maintains a gift portfolio of prospect and donors in the range of $2,500 to $10,000.
- Manages a comprehensive stewardship program. Oversees the timely and appropriate recognition and engagement of individual donors.
- Establishes mid-level annual giving goals in coordination with Sr. Director of Development and develops strategies, plans and budget; outlining revenue and expenses; and monitors progress against goals.
- In coordination with the Development team, assists in developing and supporting a comprehensive strategy for a multi-year mid-level annual giving program for Louisiana.
- In coordination with the Manager of Annual Giving & Stewardship in Houston and Development Writer, plans and implements the donor stewardship program to include acknowledgement letters, donor impact reports, newsletters and donor update calls.
- In coordination with Director of Development Operations, oversees the timely preparation of acknowledgement letters and annual donor tax letters.
- Implements the Health Center and Employee fundraising campaigns, supports Planned Parenthood Young Leaders program.
- Coordinates with Director of Special Events to execute key fundraising events in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and serves as primary liaison for event donor communications.
- Coordinates with VP of Strategic Partnerships to conduct donor stewardship events and frontline fundraiser stewardship activities with donors.
- Oversees third party events.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelors degree required
- Fundraising experience in annual fund
- Demonstrated track record with respect to detail orientation and accuracy.
- Experience in Raisers Edge preferred.
- Experience with graphic design software preferred.
Qualifications and Ability
- 2-4 years of progressively responsible in non-profit fundraising.
- Ability to lead multiple long- and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines; ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work; ability to work unsupervised and make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively and creatively.
- Demonstrated success in annual fundraising campaigns, methods, and techniques.
- Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and donors.
- Strong knowledge of principles, ethics and practices of successful fundraising concepts, and appropriate solicitation techniques.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to write correspondence, reports, fundraising collateral and speaking remarks.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to interact with diplomacy and tact amid influential clients and diverse groups.
- Goal-oriented, strategic, persistent and persuasive in the contact, follow-through and completion of acquiring donor gifts.
- Thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work.
- Understands the confidential nature of fundraising efforts and donor information, and maintains high level of confidentiality.
Language Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities; ability to communicate clearly in person and in writing.
Computer and Mathematical Skills
- Computer skills in the following areas: Microsoft Excel, Word (mail merge), etc.), PowerPoint and Windows environment.
- Computer literacy and competency with electronic donor tracking systems.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
