Bilingual Youth Care Professional - 2nd Shift
Location: Washington, Connecticut
Base Pay: Starting at $19.50/hr for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree; $19.00/hr for candidates without a Bachelor’s degree. Experience credit applied in addition to base pay.
Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 (1/2 paid in your first paycheck and the other 1/2 after 90 days of hire).
Annual Increase: $1,560 for Master’s degree.
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x your hourly rate.

Position Overview:
Are you interested in making a life-saving difference for children and adolescents? Join our Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health team, providing short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children in Connecticut.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Complete walk-throughs (every 30 minutes) to ensure all students are present and accounted for.
- Responsible for basic housekeeping including laundry, dishes, cleaning common areas, etc.
- Teaching daily living skills, assisting with educational activities, cultural assimilation, and coordinating daily activities.
- Serve as a role model to children and adolescents in dealing with academic, personal, social, and vocational problems.
- Assist with phone calls between children and families.
- Escort children to medical and legal appointments.
- Participate in activity schedules with children, including off-campus trips, extracurricular activities, and group discussions.
- Assist with discharge travel.
- Display effective problem-solving skills.
- Establish a safe, clean, nurturing, and productive living environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of child welfare experience working with children and/or adolescents required.
- Must be fully immunized/vaccinated (or have a medical/religious exemption) for Varicella, MMR, TdAp, Influenza prior to starting.
- Must be 21 years of age or older (per licensing standards).
- Valid driver's license.
