Position Title: Nurse Manager - Surgical Services
Location: Chico, CA

Position Summary:
As a Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for the 24-hour coordination and supervision of the daily operations within the Surgical Services unit. Under the direction of the Director of Surgery Services, you will oversee financial management, human resources, quality improvement, and patient care. The Nurse Manager will ensure that service delivery meets age-specific physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of the patients while maintaining compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the unit, including budget and productivity target development.
- Provide leadership and promote employee satisfaction through staff development and progressive discipline when necessary.
- Lead strategic planning, service development, and resource utilization in collaboration with organizational goals.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and the care team, addressing concerns and problem-solving as needed.
- Supervise staff in adherence to standards of care and provide education as needed.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and make necessary adjustments to care plans to optimize outcomes.
- Participate in staff education, multidisciplinary care planning, and ongoing assessment of patient care needs.
Education/Training/Experience:
Minimum:
- Five years of clinical nursing experience in Surgical Services.
- One year of perioperative charge nurse experience.
Desired:
- Recent management experience.
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field.
- Active membership in a professional organization related to nursing management and supervision.
Licenses/Certifications:
Minimum:
- Current California Registered Nurse licensure.
- Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications (PALS within 6 months of hire).
Desired:
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) or other specialty certification related to Surgical Services.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality improvement processes, and financial management.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, with the ability to lead, delegate, and motivate staff.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, leadership, and clinical judgment skills.
- Ability to meet teaching needs of patients and their families.
- Must reflect the core values of the healthcare organization and fulfill all essential functions of the role.
