Speech Language Pathologist - Full Time - Days - $7,500 Sign On Bonus
The speech language pathologist (SLP) position is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals in a variety of settings, including acute care, acute medical rehabilitation, outpatient, subacute and skilled nursing. The SLP evaluates and administers therapy treatments to patients of all ages who have speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disorders. The SLP is responsible for developing plans of care, maintaining records, monitoring progress, and patient/family education as appropriate.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for administration and direct application of Speech/Language Pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician.
- Evaluates, assesses, plans, directs and treats all residents or patients referred for speech/language pathology services. Interprets test results in accordance with standard speech/language procedures.
- Re-evaluates patients as appropriate. Implements new treatment plans and goals as necessary.
- Implements treatments to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury.
- Participates in multidisciplinary consultations.
- Participates in performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities.
- Completes continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements as applicable.
- May provide information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to Speech Pathology needs for optimum patient care and service.
- May assist in scheduling patient or resident visits for further evaluation and treatment.
- Ensures all documentation and charts are complete.
- Participates in infection control, safety and educational programs, both in the department and on an organizational wide basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Graduate of a college/university accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association with a degree in Speech Language Pathology.
- Excellent communication skills to communicate with patients, medical and house staff. Excellent assessment skills to make accurate prognosis of patient potential and guide the individual to achieve that potential.
- Preferred
- Proficient with MS Office and Epic/EMR software.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Current NYS license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (or temporary permit).
- Must hold or be eligible for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Will consider a strong Clinical Fellow Candidate (CFY).
