The target schedule for this role would be 4x 10 hour shifts or 3x 12 hour shifts, looking for Wednesday- Saturday coverage.

Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) is a VECCS level one certified Rarebreed practice that has full in-house laboratory capabilities, a fluoroscopy suite for interventional procedures, a helical 16-slice CT, MRI, respiratory ventilator, in-house telemetric monitoring, ultrasound and endoscopy. MVMC has well-staffed departments in Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Radiology, Rehab and Acupuncture and a great team of emergency clinicians and criticalists to offer advanced services to a well-educated client base.
Veterinary Technician - Surgery

$26.00 - $40.00 an hour depending on skill, experience and licensure
Eligible for quarterly bonuses under Rarebreed’s profit-sharing program.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist with patient care during pre-op, procedure and post-op periods as well as discharges and follow up appointments.
- Monitor anesthesia for patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures, including hemodynamically unstable individuals who require active monitoring and intervention.
- Maintain a sterile environment and assist others in maintaining the same, including maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment and restocking of supplies.
- Perform routine and advanced treatments and procedures, including injections, oral medications, blood draws, basic pharmacology and bandaging.
- Provide comfort, love, and a skilled hand to patients.
- Keep patient families updated with medical and financial status.
- Support the hospital team to provide exceptional care for pets and their owners.

REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
- Current Maine Veterinary Technician License or the ability to obtain one.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong Clinical skills, including excellent anesthesia experience.
- Detail-oriented and well organized.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Self-motivated.
- Team-oriented.
