Description: The Villa Park Public Library seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Youth Services Associate. We are looking for an energetic self-starter who functions well both independently and as part of a group, and possesses a strong work ethic.
Job duties:
- Typical desk duties include answering reference questions, readers’ advisory services, providing computer support/troubleshooting, checking items in and out, assisting patrons with accounts.
- Coordinating, planning, and implementing programs and services in Youth Services.
- Assisting patrons of all ages with identifying and locating materials.
- Providing instructional support and troubleshooting for use of the library’s public technology and electronic resources.
- Participating in the creation and maintenance of physical and virtual book displays, booklists, book reviews, and other promotional materials.
- Assisting at Adult Services Desk for 2-4 hours per week.
- May serve as a Passport Acceptance Agent and/or notary public.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.
- Competency in MS Office products required.
- Proficiency using Internet, email, online searching, and Windows operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate well in English, both orally and in writing, required.
- One year of customer service experience preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates with Spanish language skills.
