Chamberlin Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for an RN Infection Control Nurse, Risk Management Nurse to join our team.
The RN Infection Prevention Nurse evaluates quality of resident care and resident outcomes as they relate to healthcare associated infections; collects, tracks and trends antibiotic use, prepares and analyzes healthcare associated infection data; presents infection data and makes recommendations for actions; monitors employee compliance in use of barriers and infection prevention measures; prepares and presents educational offerings for the staff; serves as a resource to all departments and personnel; implements programs to protect the healthcare workers, visitors, and others in the healthcare environment; develops and recommends policies and procedures to prevent adverse events; provides internal and external reporting of information and data; promotes compliance with regulations, guidelines, and accreditation requirements; participates in the facility QAPI program.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs on-going monitoring of healthcare associated infections
- Assesses infection prevention areas for improvement and makes recommendations for corrective action
- Oversees the antibiotic stewardship program.
- Prepares the agenda for the infection prevention committee
- Monitors or oversees infection prevention practices and employee compliance for all departments and personnel either by direct contact or through other administrative personnel.
- Serves as a resource for all departments and personnel.
- Initiates, reviews, and revises infection prevention policies and procedures
- Conducts outbreak investigation and initiates control measures
- Reports communicable diseases to the local, state and federal agencies as required by law.
- Provides educational offerings for orientation and ongoing in-services
- Consults with department heads, pharmacists and physicians as needed to improve care
- Initiates follow-up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseases
- Attends the facility QAPI program and participates in performance improvement activities as well as antibiotic stewardship programs.
- Reporting monthly infection and antibiotic use data at monthly QAPI. Issues and concerns discussed with the Medical Director and pharmacist.
- Interacts with occupational health on issues related to exposures to communicable diseases and to bloodborne exposures.
- Participates in short- and long-range planning for the infection prevention department
- Performs other duties as directed
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a current license as a RN in the state where the center is located.
- Have a primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or other related field.
- Be qualified by education, training, experience or certification.
- Have completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.
- Ability to teach and evaluate clinical performance
- Communication skills
- Computer skills required for the position
