The Physician Assistant (PA) II is a licensed health professional who practices medicine under the supervision of a physician. The PA II has greater than three years of experience as a PA and is involved in care coordination, education, and clinical practice. The PA II will lead our professional team by communicating, planning, and implementing care directly and with other healthcare professionals.
Essential Duties:
- Expertly obtains detailed and accurate medical histories from patients; performs appropriate physical examinations, delineates problems, and records the information.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, including coordination of referrals to specialty and social services.
- Orders appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic studies along with indicated procedures.
- Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiological, and other routine diagnostic procedures.
- May perform procedures based on privileges approved by medical staff.
- Facilitates care coordination with the rest of the team.
- Provides continuity of care in managing complex illnesses and injuries under physician supervision.
- Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.
- Facilitates patient referrals to health and social service agencies when appropriate.
- Ensures accurate billing for services rendered.
- Acts as a mentor and/or preceptor to new/student physician assistants.
- Participates or leads quality initiatives, process improvement projects, or research.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- 3+ Years Experience Required.
- Committed to excellence in patient care and customer service.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning, and evaluation skills.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Physician Assistant - PA (CA DCA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) - required within 30 days of hire if no card upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Drug Enforcement Administration Current Controlled Substance Course Certificate - obtain within 3 months of hire.
The annual base salary range for this position is $158,080.00 - $260,832.00.
