Specialty Urology practice seeking an experienced registered and certified ultrasound technician to perform imaging studies for general urology and post-prostate cancer patients, including ultrasounds of prostate, renal and scrotal areas, and providing services to address erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence and implants. This person must be skilled in helping patients feel comfortable and explain complex medical conditions to patients and families. The right person for this role will have strong critical thinking, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as sensitivity to patient needs.
Requires the ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment and possess the physical stamina to remain on your feet for extended periods of time. This individual will also work as a medical assistant on days when the physician is seeing patients (i.e., duties include scheduling, taking vitals, documentation into EMR, room preparation for patient appointments and ordering ultrasound and clinical supplies). The duties will include but not be limited to:
- Scheduling and performing ultrasound procedures; quality assurance/improvement standards
- Correlating ultrasound procedures with patient medical history
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment; ensures adequate stock of supplies
- Assisting with minor in office procedures
- Assisting with EMR documentation
- Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients and provide support
- Programming and calibrating the scanner for procedures as needed
- Ensuring the transducer captures images from all angles or sections
Licenses/Certification Required:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technology Sonography Certification – ARRT (S) required
- BLS from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required
Education and Experience:
- Vocational/Technical Diploma, graduate of an accredited ultrasound program required
- 2 years Diagnostic Ultrasound Sonographer experience
- Must be Certified
