Scripps Pharmacy has four convenient locations on the campuses of Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas and Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego. The pharmacies provide new and refill prescriptions, prescriptions for specialty medications and they can transfer existing prescriptions from our inpatient pharmacies to our three Scripps Pharmacy locations. Our friendly, knowledgeable and highly trained team of pharmacists and support staff are available to provide immunizations, as well as consultations on medication use and over-the-counter (OTC) products. This Pharmacy Technician will be joining the float pool team and support all ambulatory pharmacy locations.
The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician is responsible for:
- Performing pharmacy technician duties under the supervision of registered pharmacists.
- Providing appropriate support, based on the assigned patient care setting, for the safe management, processing, distribution, authorization, billing, receiving, stocking, and packaging of prescription medications and over-the-counter products.
- Processing refill authorizations, processing and obtaining prior authorizations, obtaining patient medication history, processing and billing prescriptions, contacting insurance for patient coverage and prior authorizations.
- May also pull, fill, mix and label medications, receive, stock and manage medication inventory and complete sales transactions for prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.
- Assisting in our Meds-to-Beds service, delivering prescriptions to the bedside in the hospital.
