QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited SLP program
- Massachusetts SLP licensure
- ASHA Certified
- New grads welcome (1 year of experience preferred)
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association BLS Provider
Job Responsibilities:
- Identifies, evaluates, treats and follows up clients on an inpatient and/or outpatient therapy basis as assigned. Provides age-appropriate care to patients and demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages.
- Evaluates the appropriateness of diagnostic and therapeutic materials and equipment. Responsible for the condition of materials, equipment, and tests used.
- Initiates and follows up on necessary action in relation to clients, determines appropriate plans, and counsels clients and families.
- Completes department operational procedures, including scheduling, billing, equipment usage, and time-off requests.
- Demonstrates relevant knowledge and application of clinical skills in evaluation, treatment, and counseling.
- Meets productivity expectations as determined by the department standards.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Utilizes the professional code of ethics with patients and families to establish therapeutic relationships.
- Performs assessment and collects basic level data to identify appropriate patient/family needs.
- Documents and ensures follow-through with the plan of care focusing on patient/family participation.
- Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills to enhance team functioning.
- Develops Speech therapy staff by providing information and conducting in-service training programs.
Education:
Bachelor of Science (Required)
Certifications:
Basic Life Support – American Heart Association, Certified Speech Therapist – American Speech Language Hearing Association, Speech Language Pathology – SLP
