Education: Required – Master’s level student in counseling, or social work program.
Work Experience: Required – At least 1 year of experience working with clients directly.

Essential Functions:
- 2 years of experience working with individuals and families.
- Assess clients’ needs and aids with emotional support and advocacy.
- Link clients to available resources and provides case management support.
- Conduct initial intakes and develops and maintains service plan.
- Aids with public assistance benefits, educational needs, victim’s crime compensation, housing and food.
- Provides peer support groups and co-facilitates counseling with clinician.
- Assists with psychoeducational groups focused on emotional support, anger management, healthy relationships, self-care, stress management, risky behaviors and others.
- Able to connect with youth, adolescents, and families at-risk.
- Compiles and analyzes intakes and referral information to assess client needs.
- Offers individual and group support as appropriate.
- Teaches peer support skills in conflict resolution, anger management, parenting, etc., as needed.
- Develops, monitors and reviews with the individual, an action plan designed to increase strengths, address needs and reduce conflict in the home.
- Completes all files and program documentation to include data entry, accurately and on time.
- Helps individuals to locate community resources to meet additional needs.
- Prepares presentations, trainings and facilitate groups that address topics related to child abuse prevention for community agencies, schools, parents and youth.
- Participates in resource fairs in the community as assigned.
Other Responsibilities:
- Works within agency’s business hours.
- Identifies and maintains professional relationships with clients and community partners.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service trainings and case consultations.
- Reports any suspected abuse or neglect to the Lead Clinician and appropriate law enforcement agency within 24 hours.
- Performs Crisis intervention techniques to promote client safety.
- Completes all necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintains accurate records regarding delivery of services, crisis, safety planning, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must pass criminal and driving background check.
- Students are expected to be enrolled in a graduate level internship/practicum course throughout the duration of their internship experience(s).
- Student will maintain liability insurance throughout their internship/practicum experience(s).
Credentials, Skills and Abilities:
- Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including but not limited to:
- First Aid
- CPR
- Other ________________________________________
Pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug screens and always maintain emotional control and professional composure. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years). Demonstrate the ability to:
- Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
- Work in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
- Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Travel as needed.
- Manage time effectively and efficiently.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish).
