Position Summary:
The Autoclave and Lab Technician is responsible for preparing, packing, and wrapping all instruments, packaging material, and equipment for sterilization. Ensure that all instruments, packaging material, and equipment are sterile and ready for use in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for organizing and scheduling of sterile processing workload. Proper washing, disinfecting and sterilization of specific instruments utilized at BioStem Technologies in accordance with cGMP and cGDP.
- Must be accurate in record keeping and ensuring all proper documentation is filled out, reviewed, signed off, and readily available for audits.
- Will be responsible for the preparation of instrument packs and proper placement of surgical instruments on the instrument trays and have good knowledge of sterilization procedures. Responsible for determining which equipment/instruments are used for steam sterilization.
- Will be responsible for the systematic flow and control of the operating instruments, materials, and services from the autoclave pre room to the processing room for processing and recovery.
- Assists the department head in exercising necessary controls in handling supplies and equipment, decontaminating, autoclaving and distribution of reusable packs and trays for processing and recovery.
- Observe the sterile processing inventory daily for low par level items, requests supplies needed from materials management department.
- Accountable for proper functioning and cleanliness of autoclaves and must clean autoclave carts and stainless steel as needed.
- Performs biological monitoring of all sterilization cycles.
- Assist lab operations department with routine cleaning of controlled areas and BioSafety Cabinets.
- Preparation of BioSafety Cabinets prior to daily processing.
- Assist in labeling and packaging episodes.
- Maintains dating system for recall of supplies according to shelf life.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma and 1-2 years Sterile Processing, Sterilization, or Hospital environment experience preferred.
- Strong Interpersonal skills

- Strong organizational skills
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit for long periods of time.
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment and Environmental Conditions:

- The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
- The environment is primarily a production environment with some warehouse duties.
- There is some limited exposure to physical risk and blood borne pathogens.
PPE Requirements:
- Foot apparel must cover all portions of the foot.
- Other PPE such as gloves, sleeves, aprons and/or gowns may apply when inspecting equipment and during production in the operations/autoclave prep area.
