Position Summary:
A great opportunity for an experienced IR nurse who is ready to take the next step in his/her career path and utilize their IR expertise in an IR Lead role! This position will be working with the team of professional IR nurses, as well as working alongside the IR Manager to develop and grow the team. The ideal incumbent will have a minimum of 2 years IR experience; pediatrics is preferred but not required. This position is primarily M - F, 10 AM - 6:30 PM, and will require some call.
Position Duties
- Coordinates/leads daily clinical operational activities of the unit and organization by ensuring that quality family-centered care is delivered in an efficient work environment.
- Manages patient throughput and balances unit patient care activities while overseeing the delivery of patient care, including admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Oversees staffing processes and coordinates assignments using established staffing levels to match individualized patient needs with staff competencies.
- Monitors unit environment to ensure that staff has the supplies, equipment, information, and resources needed to provide quality patient care.
- Documents and updates scheduling, occurrence reports, patient/family concerns, and quality indicators in real-time.
- Provides a report to the manager or designee on the status of patient throughput, staffing processes, unit environment, and quality indicators.
- Collaborates with the manager to lead, create, and maintain an environment that advocates for staff and promotes individual/team engagement.
- Demonstrates and promotes clinical leadership as a clinical and system expert.
- Promotes a culture of learning resulting in staff/team development and retention.
- Identifies, facilitates, and leads departmental performance improvement projects.
- Ensures timely completion and investigation of occurrence reports.
- Takes an active interest in accountability for key operational functions.
- Collaborates with the leadership team to develop, review, revise, and implement evidence-based policies and procedures.
- Mentors staff to ensure compliance with nursing standards and operational values.
- Establishes professional relationships with compassion and respect for human dignity.
- Maintains confidence with continued pursuit of activities for personal/professional growth.
- Influences the patient care/work environment with the values of nursing.
- Monitors staff performance providing feedback to the manager.
- Actively engages with surgeons' offices and hospital schedulers.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.
