Overview
The Specialist Medical Policy, Eastern US informs payers about Myriad's existing and new products and services, aiming to secure coverage for Myriad products. They collaborate with customers to identify and meet specific needs. Additionally, they collaborate with others to ensure seamless contract and process improvement processes consistent with company objectives. They assist with creation and changes to educational materials.
Responsibilities
- Educate payers regarding hereditary cancer risk assessment, genetic testing, and new emergent technologies relevant to Myriad's services.
- Assist Myriad in messaging and positioning new testing services to payer organizations. This process may be accomplished via in-person meetings, email, and telephone conversations.
- Gather and analyze coverage data to develop and prioritize company objectives.
- Work closely with other Medical Policy Specialists and other members of the Payer's Market team to implement the goals and strategies of the company.
- Assist in the creation of educational and training materials used to communicate company services.
- Employ project management skills by prioritizing and leading multiple tasks concurrently.
- Gain a detailed operational knowledge of regional account customers and be adept at helping those customers identify their specific needs.
- Work closely with Myriad's sales, customer service, senior medical policy specialist, billing, and medical services teams to identify contracting and process improvement opportunities consistent with company objectives.
Qualifications
- Board Certified/Board Eligible genetic counselor, licensed Advanced Practice Nurse, or Registered Nurse licensure is required with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and project management skills are required.
- Ability to interact effectively in a team environment, regardless of personnel function or reporting responsibilities.
- General knowledge of the healthcare industry and validated success working with commercial insurers or government payers is preferred.
- This is a home-office-based position, but residence in one of the states covered is preferred.
- Approximately 20-25% travel is required.
Physical Requirements
Lifting Requirements - light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
