Saint Alphonsus Health System is a growing four-hospital, 714-bed, 74 clinic integrated healthcare system serving southwestern Idaho, eastern Oregon and northern Nevada. GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
Responsible for the daily operations of the pharmacy department at the Nampa Medical Center.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required. Must be licensed as a Pharmacist with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy. Three years of hospital experience required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric as applicable). Prepares pharmaceutical products for patients’ use by safe and cost-effective methods using acceptable professional standards. Comprehends and supports quality assurance and risk management issues, completes two performance improvement projects annually.
Participates in various departmental duties; material resource management, clerical, financial, safety, and other departmental issues. Covers core pharmacist shifts when required. Technician supervision in conjunction with Supervisor, Pharmacy Technicians. Coordinates technician, pharmacy intern, and pharmacist orientation and training programs.
Processes personnel paperwork required by Human Resources. Oversees integrity of controlled substance reports. Effectively manages human resources by overseeing staffing schedules and corrective action as necessary. Reviews and responds to variance reporting system.
Assists the health system in achieving compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements. (e.g., JCAHO) requirements/ ASHP standards, statements, and guidelines; state and federal laws regulating pharmacy practice; OSHA regulations340B requirements). 340B general program knowledge, provides oversight and involvement as needed. Supports the 340B tracking software and define access for particular users.
Maintains changes to the formulary and communicate appropriately. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and management skills. Must possess ability to work in teams and build consensus. Must possess ability to interact cooperatively.
