Manager, Clinical Social Work

This position, based in Orange County, reports to the Director of Supportive Care and Integrative Medicine. The role involves independently supervising clinical social work employees, including assigning or modifying work, coaching, training, and providing input on performance appraisals and competence assessments. The individual will address routine issues, referring complex problems to the director as needed. They are responsible for ensuring the optimal delivery of psychosocial care, particularly in helping patients and families understand and adjust to illness. The role includes providing age-appropriate assessments and interventions, participating in policy implementation or revisions, and collaborating with physicians, colleagues, and supervisors to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care. Additionally, this position will manage the Clinical Social Work Division in the director's absence.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Supervise and support clinical social work staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with various departments to develop and implement patient support services, including psychosocial education and problem-solving programs.
- Assume administrative duties in the Director's absence, including policy review, compliance monitoring, and strategic planning.
- Provide psychosocial counseling and support to patients, families, and staff, particularly in high-stress and complex situations.
- Lead and participate in interdisciplinary rounds, offering expertise and guidance to ensure optimal patient care.
- Adhere to institutional and regulatory standards, participate in performance improvement initiatives, and demonstrate excellence in customer service.
Your qualifications should include:
- Master’s degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
- Minimum of 2 years of post-Masters experience working as a clinical social worker within a hospital setting.
- Working knowledge of current, independent clinical psychosocial screening, assessment and counseling.
- Program development or experience with leading a team.
- Possession of a Clinical Social Work License (LCSW) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
