AHA’s Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for front line operations in the Laboratory. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, technically competent, possess excellent communication skills, and be excited by the prospect of learning all aspects of laboratory operations.
Some responsibilities include:
- Developing and administering the laboratory quality assurance program to ensure testing accuracy and consistency.
- Updating the standard operating procedures (SOP) and procedure manuals for each laboratory department with AHA Supervisors, Laboratory Managers and Laboratory Directors.
- Supervise and manage laboratory team.
- Evaluating and reviewing quality control data for issues and making corrective action plans.
- Maintain instrumentation; answer technical questions.
- Organizing and filing maintenance and quality control logs.
- Resolve QC issues.
- Resolve specimen integrity issues.
- Checking QC and calibration verification for each department.
- Follow CAP & CLIA standards.
- Assisting in the preparation for accreditation reviews; complete CAP surveys.
- Providing orientation and training to all testing personnel.
- Maintain proper staffing and coverage.
- Responsible for completion of staff payroll related items in Paychex.
- Assist in evaluating and documenting the performance of all testing personnel.
Job Requirements
- BSMT or BS in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field required.
- Joint Commission experience preferred.
- At least 5 years of clinical experience.
- Minimum of 4 years technologist experience in a CLIA laboratory.
- Licensed Clinical Laboratory Supervisor.
- Minimum of 1 year of proven management experience with a strong operational background in all aspects of Laboratory operations.
- Be detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Be highly motivated and able to complete ambiguous tasks.
- Experience with Beckman Coulter Laboratory equipment.
