Job Description
As a Construction Materials Laboratory Technician (CMLT) at Bunnell Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), you will assume a pivotal role in our organization's dedication to excellence in our AASHTO and CCRL accredited laboratory. Reporting directly to our Lab manager, an essential aspect of your role is to demonstrate strong leadership skills and contribute to the continuous development of a collaborative team environment. Your expertise and dedication will play a critical role in maintaining the high standards of our laboratory and ensuring the success of our projects.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High School or General Education Equivalent (GED)
- Three (3) years or more experience in a geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratory.
- Familiarity with ASTM, ASSHTO, AMRL, CCRL and USACOE test methods specific to geotechnical and construction materials.
- Minimum required certifications:
- ACI Concrete testing Technician
- ACI Aggregate base testing
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
- Knowledge of project management, understanding project baseline documentation, costs, and schedules.
- Intermediate to Advanced level proficiency in MS Office applications (Word & Excel).
- Must be self-motivated, able to efficiently work independently while completing scheduled tasks, and/or lead a project team.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with team members, BLE leadership, clients, local, state and federal authorities of all levels.
Daily Functions and Duties
- Laboratory sample receipt and processing
- Daily use of EXCEL, Geosystems and eFieldData for recording of test results
- Calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.
- Conducting, reporting, and analyzing the following tests:
- Soil and Aggregate testing
- Triaxial compression
- Direct shear
- Consolidation
- Proctors
- Grain size analysis
- Atterberg limits
- Permeability
- CBR
- Organic contents
- Specificity gravity
- pH
- Resistivity
- Concrete strength testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ASSHTO R18
- Triaxial Compression testing
- Direct Shear testing
- Consolidation testing
