Job Summary: The Vanderbilt Health Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for an Associate Vice President, Population Health. The Associate Vice President (AVP) plays a pivotal role in optimizing administrative workflow to support the Executive Vice President (EVP) in Population Health, ensuring the office runs smoothly and efficiently. This position operates at the intersection of strategy, operations, and communication within Population Health, facilitating effective decision-making, strategic alignment, and operational cohesion. This position reports to the EVP of Population Health.
Shift: First Shift (Days)
Role Accountabilities:
- Manage the office of the EVP and ensure the execution of the EVP’s agenda, including the administrative systems that drive the successful execution of the EVP’s agenda.
- Optimize administrative workflows to support the EVP, including managing time and the flow of information to and from the EVP.
- Coordinate special projects and initiatives, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Draft presentations and communications on behalf of the EVP.
- Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), providing critical internal advisory and integrative support.
- Act as a reliable sounding board for the EVP and other SLT members, facilitating strategic discussions and decision-making.
- Anticipate and identify potential issues and challenges that could impact departmental and organizational goals, and proactively address them.
- Foster relationships crucial to the EVP’s agenda and strengthen connections within Population Health and larger VUMC enterprise.
- Support the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives to achieve Population Health’s goals and objectives.
- Develop, implement, and oversee performance management systems to ensure that Population Health business units and their respective team members are meeting their commitments to the organization's mission and being adequately supported in that effort.
- Participate in the preparation and management of budgets, financial forecasting, and performance, and identifying opportunities to improve financial efficiency.
- Assist in identifying, mitigating, and managing potential risks to the organization, including financial, operational, and reputational risks.
Functions:
- Serve as a strategic coordinator for the EVP and SLT, ensuring alignment and coordination across various functions.
- Integrate workstreams across departments to mitigate silos and enhance organizational collaboration.
- Support EVP communication to Population Health and VUMC, ensuring alignment between the EVP’s vision and messaging.
- Act as a neutral facilitator for the EVP, providing diverse perspectives and fostering candid dialogue when needed.
- Serve as a confidant to the EVP, demonstrating humility, confidentiality, and situational sensitivity in all interactions.

Qualifications – External:
Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (preferably an MBA) with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar strategic or operational role, within a fast-paced environment preferred.
- A proven track record of managing complex projects and driving strategic initiatives to successful completion is preferred.
- Experience working closely with senior executives and navigating organizational dynamics effectively preferred.
- Population Health experience is strongly preferred.
- Academic Medical Center experience preferred.
