What is the Opportunity?
Research Associate responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the Biotechnology sector.
What will you do?
- Develop an expertise in the Biotechnology sector.
- Assist in the development and detailed modeling of company specific financial models.
- Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases.
- Provide research support to analyst as required.
- Incumbent is in the process of developing core Research Associate skills.
- Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector.
- Proactively identify operational risks/control deficiencies in the business.
- Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
- Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.
What do you need to succeed?
Basic Qualifications
- PhD, MD, or similar advanced degree in life sciences field relevant to therapeutics.
- NYSE Licensing Requirements – Series 7, 63, 86 & 87, SIE.
Other Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of work experience in a non-academic setting such as biopharma industry/drug development, life sciences consulting, or investment banking is a plus.
- Familiarity with accounting and financial modeling.
- Previous exposure to the biopharmaceuticals sector.
- Efficient writing capabilities.
- Strong computer skills (Excel) with ability to quickly learn new platforms.
- Detail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends beyond the mainstream.
- Energetic, self-motivated and an ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time.
- Demonstrated passion for equity/financial markets.
- Prior sell-side equity research experience in biotechnology, pharma, or specialty pharmaceuticals is a plus.
- Good understanding of financial/stock market.
- Knowledge of Wolters Kluwer software and IMS are a plus.
AUTHORITIES, IMPACT, RISK
- Regular interaction with clients.
- Supporting Senior Analyst.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Internal clients including sales and trading.
- External clients as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- The work environment is based on an office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is required.
- The office environment can be a high stress environment that requires quick turnaround and decision making.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
