Ready to join in? We are looking for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to be based at the Orthopedic building in Chicago, IL with travel to other clinics with the team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, communication skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment. The position is responsible for providing clinical support to the Physician, PAs, and Nurses in all facets of medical procedures in the cast room.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the flow of patients into the cast room.
- Ensure rooms are cleaned between patients, as well as cleaned and stocked at the end of the day.
- Collect/assist with the collection of specimens, sterilizes instruments as needed, and removes staples, sutures, and external fixation devices as ordered by the physician.
- Maintain inventory of all necessary supplies, instruments, places orders, verifies deliveries, and approves invoices as necessary.
- Assist physician with procedures as needed.
- Provide instruction to patients regarding care of casts, splints, dressings, etc.
- Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
- Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
- Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.
- Takes Vitals.
- Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of relevant medical assistant work experience.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and the ability to interact with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
